Domestic Violence Awareness Month

What is Domestic Violence Awareness Month?

Each October, YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley joins communities across the nation to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). It’s a time to honor survivors, raise awareness, and take action toward a future free from violence.

At YWCA, we walk alongside survivors every day — providing advocacy, crisis intervention, safety planning, housing support, and connections to vital community resources. Our services are here for anyone, because domestic violence does not discriminate.

This October, join us for special events that raise awareness and build community support:

  • 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat (October 2nd, 2025 | 5:30-7:30PM) – a family-friendly evening of treats, community resources, and fun at YWCA Oak Ridge.

  • Beacons of Hope: A Candlelight Evening with Lizbeth Meredith (October 14th, 2025 | 5:30-7:00PM) – honoring survivors with reflection, candle lighting, and conversation with the award-winning author.

Alongside these events, we invite you to:

  • Take the Everyday Advocate Pledge and show your commitment to standing with survivors and ensure women and families have the safety, stability, and hope they deserve.

Together, we can take a stand and ensure survivors are never left behind.

Take the “We Believe You” Pledge Today!

We know that 1 in 3 women will be a victim of domestic violence and because of this, join YWCA in pledging to take a stand against domestic violence. Pledge to listen to victims and survivors. Pledge to amplify the voices of victims, survivors, and advocates. Pledge to say “I believe you.”
