Victim Advocates

YWCA’s Victim Advocacy Program (VAP) provides lifesaving services for victims and survivors of domestic violence.  VAP is a non-shelter program which provides safety planning, danger assessments, court accompaniment, assistance with filing Orders of Protection, community education, support groups, and connecting clients to community resources.  Bilingual and culturally specific advocates are available.  Advocacy services are offered in Anderson and Knox counties. The YWCA is an onsite partner at the Anderson and Knoxville Family Justice Center. You can also find advocates at the Oak Ridge YWCA office and in the community.

Child Welfare Domestic Violence Liasons

Child Welfare Domestic Violence Liaison’s work with Department of Children Services (DCS) and families involved with DCS to facilitate best practices and enhance safety, stability, and well-being for children and families at the intersection of domestic violence and child welfare services.  Child Welfare Domestic Violence Liaison services are offered in Anderson, Knox, Roane, and Loudon counties. Liaisons provide preventative services. Referrals must come from DCS.

Safer and Stronger Transitional Housing- Anderson County

Safer and Stronger Transitional Housing program is available to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, or stalking, living in Anderson County who are actively fleeing abuse. This program offers financial education, parenting education, case management services, and rent and utility subsidies.  This program is offered in Anderson County.

Safer And Stronger Transitional Housing Multi-County

Multi-County Safer and Stronger Transitional Housing program is available to homeless victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, dating violence, or stalking. This program offers financial education, parenting education, case management services, and rent and utility subsidies.  This program is offered in Anderson, Blount, Knox, Loudon, Roane, and Sevier counties.

Justice for Families Supervised Visitation & Safe Exchange Program

Justice for Families Program offers supervised visitation and safe exchange services for families who have experienced violence within their relationships in and around Anderson County. Services provide emphasis on healthy relationships and healing from violence in a safe and supportive environment. *It should be noted that one parent must have custody of the child/children and the visiting party must be a parent.

The goal of the Victim Services Programs is for clients to achieve safety and self-sustainability. Through victim advocacy, community education and outreach, YWCA Knoxville and the TN Valley strives to build safer and stronger communities where clients may live free from violence and abuse.   All of our Victim Service Programs are free.

Community Outreach And Trainings

YWCA advocates are available to conduct community education DV 101 presentations at businesses, organizations, places of worship, schools, and other locations throughout the counites we serve.
