Tribute To Women is the YWCA’s signature event honoring outstanding women in East Tennessee. The event began in 1985 as a platform to recognize women in the community who were truly paving the way for women today. In the past, three finalists were selected in each category and the honoree was announced on stage at the event. This year, for the 26^th anniversary, the honorees are being announced in advance to highlight the work, excellence and accomplishments of the women being honored. 

The YWCA Tribute To Women event salutes women who are role models in their respective fields, both professionally and in a volunteer capacity. Nominees were nominated in one of eight categories: Arts, Business, Government, Education, Human Services, Racial Justice, Science & Technology, and Outstanding Youth.  All nominees and nominators were invited to attend a celebration on Tuesday, June 15^th at the YWCA.  From this event nominees were able to get a glimpse of the amount of remarkable nominations that the YWCA receives each year. All nominations are reviewed by qualified out-of-state judges with no strong ties to East Tennessee. Judges look for nominations that show high achievement in career or in a volunteer capacity and nominations that show a strong impact in the community.  

The 2010 YWCA Tribute To Women event will be held on Thursday, August 19^th beginning with a reception at the First Tennessee bank at 5:30pm and the Awards Ceremony at the Historic Bijou Theatre at 7:00pm. Tickets are $75 and includes the reception and awards ceremony.

Tribute To Women empowers those women who are active and involved in our communities.  The YWCA serves women in transition and their families, and seeks to benefit women and children of all economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.  The YWCA is committed to strengthening our communities and acknowledging those strong female role models.
